SporeBound
Welcome to SporeBound. The game that let's you play as an adorable mushroom parasite. Use your parasitic abilities to take over insects, and other creatures, to reach the end. Are you up to the task to take the fight to the humans and put a stop to technology.
We are Team Tricycle, and SporeBound is our game jam project for our Game Design 2 course. The theme was "Nature always wins". Everything except the sounds and backgrounds were made by us and only in 2 days. We learned some new stuff whilst working on this game, so we have won even if we don't win this game jam. This is only a short demo and we see great potential in the parasite mechanic.
We are aware that there is a bug that makes it so you can't continue. If you fall down at the disappearing platforms and manage to hit the checkpoint at the beginning again, then you can't continue the game and the game needs to be restarted. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Controls:
Arrow keys or WASD --> Move
Z --> Use insect ability
X --> Takeover creature
Esc --> Reset to last checkpoint

Very interesting idea; love the cutesy graphics contrasting the somewhat dark setting. The movement had some friction though: Stopping immediatly when letting go of the input felt a bit weird, and I wish there was input buffering on the jump.
